It was around twelve-thirty at night when I emerged from a shadowy alley. I glanced around cautiously, as I knocked brusquely on the heavy wooden door.

A warm light emanated from inside and I could see my breath floating, cloud-like, in front of me. A few moments later, a trusted face squinted sleepily, yet cautiously, from behind the cracked door

Mahesh Chander Mehta was born on October 12, 1946, in the State of Jammu & Kashmir. He grew up in a small village, Dhangri, in the district of Rajouri. There, he gained a deep and abiding love of nature. This, in turn, led to a commitment to fight against all injustice, particularly that being perpetrated against the environment.
